Taxi Driver Training for Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Vehicles
At BirLing Driver Training Centre we have a number of professional DIAmond Accredited Taxi Trainers (DATT) who are able to assist taxi drivers & potential taxi drivers to develop their professional driving skills.
The Taxi Test requires specialist knowledge & skills from both the trainer & trainee in order to meet the standards currently required by many Local Authority Licensing departments to gain &/or renew either a Hackney Carriage or Private Hire Vehicle licence.
The standard of driving required for the Taxi Test is much higher than, & different to, that of the current DSA Provisional driving test, reflecting advanced practices & conditions associated with modern driving & current laws. We all think we’re good drivers! Those who currently drive for a living often assume, that because of their experience, they’re doing it right. But could it be done better? It is in the interests of taxi drivers to take professional, specialist instruction prior to taking the test as local authorities will not grant a licence until the assessment has been passed. And "if your wheels aren’t turning, you’re not earning!"
Our DATT trainers have the skills & expertise to offer all (self-employed) taxi drivers & potential taxi drivers advice & guidance on what will be expected, & how to prepare for, either the DSA or DIA Taxi Test.
A 2-hour initial driving assessment session will be conducted, which will include:
Pre-training advice & free study guide
Driving skills assessment & report
Remedial advice for private practice prior to full training
Taxi Test advice
Cost £60.00
The 1 day (6 hour) course will include vehicle maintenance awareness, in-car presentation of examiners’ expectations, driver skills development including reversing & turning manoeuvres, cabology, Highway Code comprehension questions & an overview of Passenger Awareness skills. Cost £300.00
(This training can be undertaken on a one to one basis, or one to two (i.e. trainer + 2 trainees) thus helping to reduce individual trainees’ costs to £150.00 per person).
As examiners are looking for a high level of skill & knowledge, trainees may require further training. Cost £30.00 per hour
